[Depersonalization/Derealization Disorder]
Dissociative disorders are the result of prolonged abuse or otherwise traumatic stress. Outside of traumatic stress, some types of dissociative symptoms can also develop as a result of other extreme stresses such as those from having mental illnesses.
Depersonalization/derealization disorder is the more common type of dissociative disorder people experience.
It is characterized by the following examples of experiences:
• Feeling that you are outside of your body, watching yourself, also described as an “out of body experience” type of feeling.
• Feeling that your surroundings are not real.
• Feeling that you are not real.
• Feeling extreme disconnection from your own emotions to the point where you may just feel completely numb.
• Feeling that you are not actually in control, and that you are just a bystander of what is going on.
Many of us who experience episodes of this may think that it happens for no apparent reason, or completely randomly, but the reality is, the reason our brains create this phenomenon is to automatically cope with extremely stressful triggers.
It is meant to unintentionally block out extreme emotions, such as anger or anxiety, so that we don’t think about them or feel them as a reaction to a triggering event or thought.
You can have dissociative symptoms as a reaction to triggering things that you don’t even know are triggering to you.
A main reason you may not know it’s even a trigger is because your mind makes you dissociate so that you don’t even know it’s upsetting to you.
Dissociation is an unintentional coping skill meant to block out extreme emotional reactions to triggers, and if you want to learn more about your triggers, make note of when you experience these symptoms, not just depression, anxiety, or anger.

Someone should make a browser extension that changes every instance of “baby boomers” into “bourgeoisie” and every instance of “millennials” into “proletariat”
To clarify for anyone who needs clarification:
I’m saying a lot of y’all misattribute values, political leanings, behavior, and status to age cohorts instead of rightfully attributing it to class.
The problem isn’t a divide between young and old, it’s a divide between the ruling class and the working poor. And a lot of the statements made about boomers and millennials are just inaccurate euphemistic distractions from what could be oppprtunities in developing class consciousness.
lms if you love oppressing men by holding them responsible for their atrocious behavior
listen the moment you say that its hormones i.e. testosterone that causes people to sexually abuse/physically assault/etc. others and not socialization and cultural patriarchy you’re cissexist, probably a transmisogynist, and literally factually wrong, and if you respond to allegations of abuse with ‘it was probably raging hormones/they can’t control themselves because of testosterone/poor baby they can’t help it their chemical makeup makes them act like that’ or otherwise excusing or apologizing for someone’s abusive actions due to ~biology~ you’re a piece of shit
kevin spacey apologizing for something he “doesn’t remember doing” and then in the same breath coming out to probably deflect backlash is the sleaziest thing fuck him lmao
and this isn’t me denying kevin spacey is gay this is me saying his timing could not have been more disrespectful and irrelevant to the topic presented to him
he’s not flat out denying what happened, he’s saying “i don’t remember doing this but if anthony says so then i’m sorry for that. also i’d like to take this opportunity to come out as a gay man.”
people are going to take this one of two ways
1. “you can’t get mad at him because he did something brave”
2. “gay men are predators”
either way it’s dangerous and also derailing the main issue at hand which is that the entertainment business is corrupt and it’s high time people start owning up to their disgusting actions
[ancient egyptian dude sees another dude painting hieroglyphics] oh man you made anubis look super hot, are you open for commissions

yeah so there’s a neo nazi/white supremacy rally going on in charlottesville where they are literally chanting “blood and soil!!” (an actual nazi saying) and the police are doing absolutely nothing about it. no tear gas, no national guard, no heavy police force,, these TERRORISTS are getting away with spreading hatred towards the marginalized and i am absolutely sickened
How about police do what they say and forcefully shove their faces onto the dirty concrete, make em bleed
that only applies to unarmed black people,, unfortunately
